Scope: Fully mobilised a world class supply chain to deliver £7bn over the first 7.5 years of the 30 year PPP contract including: Contract with Bombardier for the Victoria Line upgrade, including 47x8-car trains, a new control centre, ‘Distance To Go’ signalling system and infrastructure enhancements along the 21km route serving 16 stations and carrying 175m passengers a year; Passengers will benefit from more frequent trains, improved journey times and improved reliability of service. Trains will be capable of operating at a higher maximum speed, and with faster acceleration – enabling station to station times to be improved by up to 10%. Production commenced on programme in February 2005.
